Viking relies heavily on their dealers to provide information, education, accessories, and customizing kits.
The problem i have is finding a dealer within a reasonable distance to my home that actually stocks any viking items.
This includes simple things like presser feet, embroidery cards, and accessories.
I live in one of the largest metropolitan areas of the country and there are no dealers within 50 miles of my home that have any viking parts available in their stores.
The site provides a dealer directory to help you find the closest ones.
Two of the three dealers i was referred to had no viking items at all, even machines.
The third carried two models of machines, the rose and the designer i, but no accessories, embroidery cards, or customizing kits.
Forget classes or even literature that might help you learn to use your machine!
When i tried to purchase a customizing kit two weeks ago, i was told that viking was closed for inventory and not shipping any parts or machines.
I have heard nothing since then that indicates my order will ever be filled.
Viking does provide a form on their web site to mail in to subscribe to their magazine, zig zag.
However, i subscribed last summer and have yet to receive an issue of this semiannual publication.
Inquiries sent via email have gone unanswered; calls to them have yielded no assistance, either.
I now buy my accessories from a dealer in another state whenever i am in their town.
I strongly suggest researching and identifying a reliable source of viking parts and supplies before investing in one of their excellent machines.
As much as i love mine, i have seriously considered selling it and changing to another brand just to have parts, service, classes, and accessories readily available.
